Dyslexia and SLD Support
About The Program
Middle Tree offers comprehensive screenings and tutoring for students with Dyslexia, conducted by extensively trained, specialty educators.
We start by reviewing student records (IEPs, teacher comments, parent concerns) to identify specific areas of need.
Our program uses the Barton System, a structured, multi-sensory method developed by Susan Barton, which is proven effective for improving reading, spelling, and writing skills and building confidence in learners with dyslexia.
Quick Facts About Dyslexia
To begin the evaluation for Dyslexia or another SDL, we conduct a comprehensive review of your student’s profile, including school behavior, teacher observations, and notes from the home environment.
We understand that interpreting these differences can be overwhelming for families, and we are committed to partnering with you to find clarity and solutions. Click the button below to watch a quick video about this condition.
What Is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a common learning difference affecting 5–17% of the U.S. population. It involves varied difficulties with reading, writing, and language comprehension, and its signs can look different in every child (affecting about 1 in 5 children).
How Does It Affect My Child?
Dyslexia manifests in various ways, including poor memory and reversing letters. Students commonly struggle with naming and writing basic concepts (letters, numbers, colors), spatial and coordination skills, and understanding non-literal language like jokes and idioms.
What Is The Barton System?
The Barton System is a 10-level, Orton-Gillingham program that is unique in its comprehensive focus on phonemic awareness—the most common reason children with Dyslexia struggle with reading. All students start at Level 1 and must follow a consistent schedule of two 1-hour per week.

How Does This Work?
With our Unlimited Program, your student receives full access to support in all school subjects, for one affordable monthly fee.
First, you enroll your child in the program.
Then your child can show up as often and for as long as they to get tutoring in any subject, get help with homework, and work on other academic goals during business hours. No appointment is necessary!
Lastly, all students are placed on a Middle Tree Plan to track their progress, so you can see tangible results as they advance.
This program is a great way to enhance your child’s education alongside their regular schooling. Whether your child needs help with math, reading, science, or writing, we’re here to make learning easier.
